Polly’s Pitch – It’s All About ME

Say it with me, Princeton: “it’s all about me.” A good mantra for anyone trying to step up their self-care in the New Year, don’t you think? Sure, we’ll still drop anything for our BFFs when they call, be cheering in the front row at every soccer game, never miss a walk with Fido, and bring home that bottle of wine when our partner has a rough day at work, but sometimes, you’ve gotta take a minute for yourself…. So that’s what I’m doing this January.

I blocked off time on my calendar and took myself out for an afternoon on the town. First, I got my sweat on with the ladies at Pure Barre. I just joined as part of their New Client Special–$99 for unlimited classes for a month–so I’ve got no excuses to get myself moving in the New Year.

Afterwards, I refueled with something fresh from Princeton Soup and Sandwich Company. I’m totally into their winter salad special, topped with crispy, sweet pomegranate seeds (hello, antioxidants!) Yum.

Finally, I rounded out my afternoon with a lap around Palmer Square to see what new stores have opened, and what’s coming in. Nic + Zoe opened in December so I just had to go check out their clothes, I hear there’s a florist opening soon, AND I found out that Rouge will be coming to the Square in February! On the way, I did a little shop therapy: restocked my favorite Ginger Body Scrub from Origins, and asked the girls at Blue Mercury what skin cream they’d recommend to help me beat the winter weather, so I can start the New Year looking as fresh as I’m feeling.

Ahh. Me time never felt so good… I’m officially making this ‘me time’ excursion a monthly habit.

By the way, who am I? I’m Polly, a Princeton girl-about-town with a weakness for wine, shopping, and Banana Whips from the bent spoon. See you on the Square!
