Palmer Square invites families, and guests to make lasting memories and start new traditions at their “eco-friendly” outdoor skating rink this season!
Princeton, NJ, November 1, 2019– Their first outdoor skating rink will open on Hulfish Street behind the Nassau Inn on November 30th and will remain open through February 2020.
“It’s been a dream of ours for many years,” said Lori Rabon, Vice President of Palmer Square, “we are beyond thrilled that this season guests of the Square, and the town of Princeton, will make lasting memories and hopefully start one more annual tradition here with us.”
Open Skate hours will be hosted primarily on nights, weekends and holidays (see below for full schedule). The cost per skater will be $10 which includes the skate rentals. Guests can also bring their own skates. Special events and packages will be announced throughout the season.
The holiday season at Palmer Square is jam packed with festivities and events starting with the annual Tree Lighting on November 29th (Black Friday). Visitors can expect to see Santa and enjoy strolling holiday music every weekend in December!
Other events include: Holiday Jam with Princeton University on December 6th, Wreath Decorating with McCarter Theatre on December 7th, gingerbread displays and events around the Square starting on December 7th, Gingerbread Decorating and Skating event with the Yankee Doodle Tap Room & Cranbury Station Gallery on December 14th, Breakfast with Santa at the Nassau Inn on December 15th, Hanukkah Celebration with the Jewish Center of Princeton on December 19th, and Christmas Eve Caroling with the Arts Council of Princeton on December 24th.
The “Ice” skating rink is a high-quality synthetic ice-skating rink called Glice. Glice is a unique non-refrigerated skating surface that performs like ice but requires none of complex compressors, piping, water, refrigerant and power of a conventional ice rink… and Glice operates silently. Glice Eco Rinks employ a unique polymer skating surface technology that allows for sustainable and cost-effective rink installations in any climate and all year round. When skating on Glice, the blade as it glides over the surface releases molecules of a embedded lubricant that provides a superior skating experience. Furthermore, the thermal stability of Glice in all temperatures, and the shock-absorbing properties of Glice Eco-Ice, decrease the risk of injuries from skater falls. Glice Rinks are easy to set up, can be easily stored and transported, and don’t require skilled labor to operate. Maintenance is minimal since no resurfacing is needed. Glice Skating Rinks offer a useful life of up to 20 years and the polymer surface is 100 % recyclable when the rink is retired. Glice is truly the first Eco-Friendly, Zero Carbon skating experience that performs like “real” ice.
Palmer Square is now accepting applications for seasonal part time employees for the skating rink. All interested candidates should contact firstname.lastname@example.org to apply!
